UFO Challenge 2012
This year as part of Judy’s UFO Challenge, I’m taking a different approach.
My goal is simply to finish all the blocks to the Christmas BOM I started in July 2003. This is what I have done so far:
The vast majority of those blocks are pieced. Remember, my mantra is “I do not appliqué .” Of the 21 blocks left to do, 2/3 of them are appliqué blocks. Humm… I wonder it that is why I haven’t finished this quilt? I’ve thought about substituting in other pieced blocks, but have decided to just go with the pattern. In the past I thought about enlarging the quilt adding blocks, but have decided I don’t need a larger Christmas quilt.
So here’s the plan: Each month of 2012 as part of the UFO Challenge, I’m going to make one or two of the remaining blocks. So, here’s the list of blocks.

Additionally, I think I’m going to challenge myself to work on my Double Wedding Ring and Sylvia’s Bridal Sampler quilts. At least one ring quilted and 2 blocks pieced each month. I have 15 rings left to quilt and 77 blocks to piece/appliqué . I would say I would do more, but I still need to leave time to work on Ocean Waves and other projects.

Great idea for 2012 UFO challenge! I think I’ll try your approach. My granddaughter says “Granma, you just try to do too much!”. And she is right! Thanks for posting & good luck in 2012! B
Good plan! Sounds like your Christmas quilt is quite a challenge and will be awesome when you get it done…good luck.
Now, what a good idea! I do have BOMs that I haven’t done. But I’ve already culled out UFOs I want to do, so maybe I’ll remember your idea next year!

Your plan sounds very good. I think what helps me when I start to applique is to get everything in one spot, ready and waiting for me. I hope you enjoy the appliqueing this time.

This sounds great…totally doable! And think how happy you’ll be next Christmas?!?!
By this time next year you’ll be sewing blocks together and have a Christmas quilt to enjoy right? I like how you’ve broken it down – very doable.
I like your approach. I am going to simply try to knock off my oldest UFOs. (3 of them that are pre-2011).
