UFO Challenge December 1, 2011

Eck!  As Judy pointed out this morning only UFO # 12 is left for the year.  For me that is the Hancock Stars BOM which I’m doing quilt as you go.

I don’t see it happening.  #12 is the same on both of my lists, so I don’t have a second quilt to choose from. Which is not to say I won’t finish some other UFO on my list just to have one finished.

November’s # was 3.  Whew. I finished the quilt top off list #1 early in the month.

I also finished Baby Glow and the Crossword Puzzle quilt.

Baby Glow was October’s quilt top to be quilted.

The Crossword Puzzle also was finished.  It wasn’t on my “official” list, but was on my “Quilts In Progress” tab as of January 1st.

My tally for the year of project which were started prior to January 1st, 2011 is 20 quilts completed (quilted and bound) and another 2 quilt tops off the “Quilts in Process” tab and on to the “To Be Quilted” tab.    Participating in Judy’s UFO Challenge is what kept me on task.

Of course that doesn’t explain this:

These are the three projects I’m currently working on Ocean Waves – started 10/27;  Orca Bay – started 11/18 and the Log Cabin – started 6/1.  The log cabin blocks look HUGE compared to the others (they are 7″ finished).  The orange string block are carefully tucked away in the box with the rest of the Orca Bay fabric.

Stay tuned this month to see what, if anything, I get finished.  In the meantime, check out the links over at Patchwork Times.

That’s a lot of quilting for just one month! I love the crossword quilt – such a creative idea. Judy’s challenge has kept me on task a lot this year too and it also kept me from starting new projects because I’d think of them in terms of potential UFOs for next year!

Judy’s challenge made me evaluate my UFO’s and I will try harder next year. The McCall’s Challenge took up way more time this year that I could have used on UFO’s. I need to put my list into the catagories like you did, some of mine did make it to the Flimsy stage. That makes me feel a bit better.

Well done — It looks like you’ve really accomplished a lot this year! I sure have been grateful for the challenge, but I’m still debating about trying it again next year.

Wow, you got a lot done! Beautiful projects! Hasn’t this challenge been a fantastic motivator? I know I wouldn’t have touched half of the projects I finished this year without it. 🙂

Beautiful finishes and off the lists. You really did get a lot done and this motivation is wonderful. Are you working on your 2012 list yet? Judy C

Congrats on all your lovely finishes–you’ve been awfully busy! 20 quilts finished is amazing! (I love the turquoise fabric on your Ocean Waves, and Orca looks amazing–so you already have fun UFO’s for next year!)
