A4 – Posies ‘Round the Square

When the quilt is finished, I’ll try to remember to find tiny flat buttons to put in the center of circles.  I just don’t think I can appliqué something that small.  The first time I did this block, I didn’t even appliqué the leaves.

This block, along with the 4 others I did originally are in the orphan block box to be use in a future project.

What’s On My Design Wall August 15, 2010

The Design Floor had Oklahoma Backroads on it for a photo.   It’s in 8 pieces and I’ve got it pinned for the next 4 seams.  Later this week I think I’ll be asking for advice on a border.  Right now I’m leaning toward no border and a red binding — the same red that I used as the cornerstones in my Texas Braid.

On the Design Wall I have 6 blocks from Row A of Sylvia’s Bridal Sampler.  I hope having them up on the wall will encourage me to get the other four blocks from Row A done sooner than later.

See what’s on other design floors, walls, bed, tables by checking out the links over at Patchwork Times.

A – 5 Amethyst

The challenge this month for  the SBS_Offline_Quilters is 5 blocks from Row A.  If I complete the challenge this month, I’ll have the entire row completed as I already have 5 blocks done.  The other four I have left to complete are A4 – Posies ‘Round the Square,  A6 – Tennessee and A7 – Cats and Mice,  and A8 – Star of the Orient.

August Quilting Goals August 3, 2010

This month I hope to spend more time in my sewing room. I don’t have to work any weekends, so that will help tremendously. My Double Wedding Ring and my Sylvia’s Bridal Sampler quilts have not been touched for months, so I really need to get back to these two quilts. Naturally there are other bits and pieces I’d like to accomplish as well.

  • Keep up with the SBS BOW and the monthly Offline Quilters’ challenges.  This month the goal is 5 blocks on row A.   Who knows what the BOW will bring.  The end result should be 10 more blocks toward the 140.
  • Three 12″ blocks – two are for a swap and one is the KVQG BOM.  I should get the BOM pattern sometime next week.
  • Quilt, Bind and Label the baby 1000 Pyramids – since I’m waiting for the baby to be born, the label might roll to September.
  • Resume quilting on the DWR.  I’ve taken the quilt from the floor frame and put it in the lap hoop.  Last night I worked on it for a while.  I’ll get back to you on how I like the hoop.
  • Finish piecing the Star Struck blocks.  This would be a good project for a sew-in with my quilting buddies.  We haven’t had one of those for a while.
  • Quilt my Texas Braid. Alright, I admit it.  This is my long shot.

Will I finish everything I’ve put out on my list?  Who knows.  Check back with me through the month to see.

K10 – Tumbling Blocks

I worked on this block over a couple of days.  When I had 3 or 4 of the blocks sewn together I held it up and my husband said “Tumbling Blocks”.    Immediately followed by “Sometimes I scare myself with what I know.”

K1 – Road to Oklahoma

On my printed quilting goals sheet, I listed 12 SBS blocks to do, over and beyond the weekly blocks, which at the time had not been announced. Realizing two blocks I listed I already had done, I picked out another 5 blocks to add to the list so I could complete the first block on each row. After making 4 blocks this weekend, I looked though my list and decide the next block would be K1 — but recognizing that it was an easy block, passed and worked on something else. Then this morning K1 was announced as this week’s block.

I’d like to get another 3 or 4 done this week, but we’ll see.
