2010 Goals
This is a summary of the various resources and groups I’m using to keep me on track this year with my quilting goals. Additionally, I print out a sheet of my goals for the month and check them off as they get done. Unfinished monthly goals may or may not continue over to the next month depending on what is going on. These sheets ultimately get filed in my quilting binder for future reference and reflection.
With all the motivational resources I’m tapping into, this will be a great year for finishing some of my quilts!

BLOGGING
There are multiple parts to the support via Blogging:
- Judy L’s Sunday Stash Report at Patchwork Times
- Judy L’s Design Wall Monday, also at Patchwork Times
- Bari’s Wednesday Accountability Challenge
- Tamara’s Friday Wind-Up for the Weekend
- I post my monthly goals at the beginning of the month and then summarize them at the end.
These are the stated goals for the year. I’ll post bits and pieces on the proper day.

kaywoods-quilting-friends Yahoo! Group (KWQF)
Members of the group list what quilting projects they want to finish this year. Send in a photo of the completed project by the end of the year and your name goes in the bucket for each finish to win a prize.
- Double Wedding Ring. It needs to be sandwiched and hand quilted. (Ok, not so confident, but really want it done by the end of November).
- Music Quilt. It needs to be sandwiched and machine quilted. Quilt completed 1/17/10
- Dancing Flowers. This is an appliqué wall hanging I started the year we did the black & bright swap. Two of the 4 blocks are done. Quilt completed 7/7/10
- 4-Patch Stripy. It’s still in strips, but will be easy enough to finish and quilt. Quilt completed 4/19/10
- Green & Cream Swap Blocks – I’m machine quilting this in pieces. I think 4 of the 20 blocks are done.
- Baby Quilt. Three more great-nieces/nephews are on the way. One quilt is finished, I need to get a two more done — preferably just quilt tops from my stack of tops, but we’ll see. Only one counts toward the challenge. Third baby quilt completed 7/17/10
- Quilt one of my Bonnie Hunter quilt tops. I have 3 completed (Strip Twist, Old Tobacco Road and Orange Crush) and I’m currently piecing 2 more (Carolina Christmas and Oklahoma Backroads). I’d like the quilting done on at least one of them by mid-May when I’m planing on taking a workshop from her and starting yet another quilt top. Oklahoma Backroads Completed 9/11/10
UFQ Program
Sponsored by Heritage Fine Fabrics
Heritage is sponsoring a UnFinished Quilt project. Pick up to six quilts that you are going to work toward completion on and list the goal. There is a limit of 6 quilts and there is a small entry fee per quilt. Obtaining the goal earns a small prize (spool of thread, FQs, etc) and your name into the pot for the grand prize drawing. Next January there is a party to show off the completed projects.
- DWR – Goal: quilted and bound
- Music Quilt – Goal: quilted and bound Quilt Completed 1/17/10
- Dancing Flowers – Goal: finished, quilted and bound Completed 7/7/10
- 4-Patch Stripy – Goal: finished, quilted and bound Quilt Completed 4/19/10
- Carolina Christmas – Goal: top finished Tops Completed 6/2/10
KVQG New Year’s Resolution Challenge
The question is “What do you want to accomplish in the next six months?” There are prizes awarded at the July meeting. This is much more than just attaining individual goals, it’s about growing and sharing your quilting experiences. There is a small entry fee for each resolution. This is what I signed up for at the January meeting.
- Attend a guild workshop (Bonnie Hunter in May) Done 5 /17/10 – 5/18/10
- Finish & Quilt Dancing Flower Completed 7/7/10
- Finish & Quilt 4-patch Stripy Quilt Completed 4/19/10
- Enter a quilt into the Guild show in April Done 4/24/10

Quilt in a Day Forums
There is a posting each month on our goals for the month. We’ve already posted our yearly goals were posted in December.
- Finish my Double Wedding Ring – goal November 2010
- Finish my husband’s music quilt – goal earlier than later Completed 1/17/10
- Complete my Carolina Christmas Top by the end of April Tops completed 6/2/10
- Finish my Strippy 4-patch Competed 4/19/10
- Finish my Green & Cream Block Swap quilt
- Quilt and finish any one of my Bonnie Hunter quilt tops (I have 3 not including Carolina Christmas – preferably by the end of April. Oklahoma Backroads 9/11/10
- Finish something not on the list — either get something to the top stage or quilt one of my many quilt tops. Completed Ladder to the Stars quilt top 1/10/10
- Finish anything I start – always a challenge
Karen’s UFO Quilt Along
on Connecting Threads Quilt With Us
This is another on-line forum where I can get and give encouragement on UFOs. There is a monthly challenge topic.
- quilt and bind my DWR – My goal is to have it finished by the end of November.
- quilt and bind my husband’s music quilt. I started collecting the fabric in the spring of 2003. The top was completed last spring and I finally got the back made last month (Dec). Completed 1/17/10
- quilt and bind my 4-patch stripy quilt. The strips are made, I just have to sew them together and put on the border – also strips. I don’t plan on any fancy quilting, so it should be easy enough to finish. Completed 4/19/10
- quilt and bind a baby quilt — I’m expecting 3 great-niece/nephews this year and I only have one quilt finished. I’ve got several baby tops so I plan to use at least one of these for the new babies. Third quilt completed 7/17/10
- quilt and bind one of my Bonnie Hunter designed quilt tops. I’m not sure which one, I have 3 tops done and 2 more are being pieced. I’m leaning toward my Strip Twist since I think I can pull the backing from my stash. I’d like to have this done by mid-May. Oklahoma Backroads Completed 9/11/10
